Aavikon Kone ja Moottori: ‘Karavaani’ (“Caravan”, 1979)

Aavikon Kone ja Moottori (“Desert’s machine and motor”) was an experimental trio active in 1979-80, hailing from Tornio in the Northern Finland, consisting of Veli-Matti “Läjä” Äijälä (later of Terveet Kädet, an internationally-acclaimed hardcore punk act), Pekka Ruth and Seppo Oförsagd; armed with British Wasp synthesizer and creating sparse electronic sound which predated the output of Mika Vainio and Pan sonic for some fifteen years. For their own label IKBAL Aavikon Kone ja Moottori released two singles, both consisting of only one track. Re-releases can be found on Bad Vugum’s 1995 The Golden Greats of IKBAL and Passions of Läjä Äijälä retrospective in 2004.
