“Finnish scientist and musician Erkki Kurenniemi described the relationship between human and machine in terms of bio-feedback.
This implied hooking up the human mind and body to the computer, in order to allow the machine to filter and speed up the information running in the individual’s nervous system, to connect it to others and ultimately to improve and immortalise the human body, cyborg-style. Hence flesh and mind could be transcended beyond mental space and beyond any known social horizon…”

Press release notes:
“70 YEARS OF ERKKI KURENNIEMI!
Ektro Records (Pori, Finland) celebrates the 70th birthday of electronic arts pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi (b. July 10, 1941) by releasing the LP Erkki Kurenniemi & Circle: Rakkaus tulessa (”Love On Fire”).
The album is an odd ”blind-date” concept, where two home cassette recordings from different eras are married together on editing table, creating a random sonic double-exposure. The backing tracks of this time tunnel are by Circle, taped in May 1999, and the romantic lead-vocals crooned by Kurenniemi himself, dating back to his cassette diary in January 11, 1972. Mash-up by Jussi Lehtisalo and Tuomas Laurila, produced by Lehtisalo and film-maker Mika Taanila. Available on vinyl only on Ektro’s Full Contact imprint.
All LP orders placed through the Ektro Records webstore will get a special Erkki Kurenniemi & Circle poster! PRE-ORDER LP NOW!!! OUT SOON!
Ruton Music, Ektro’s cassette-only sub-label, puts out another homage to Kurenniemi. DRY ’73-9-8 is an unedited C32-reprint of one of his 90-odd volumes of private home recordings. This specific late-night tape contains nothing but the first ever recorded experiment of Kurenniemi’s futuristic musical instrument Dimi-T (T=thinking, a.k.a. Electroencephalophone a.k.a. α/θ cyborg) at his home. The machine transformed the alpha-waves of a sleeping musicians’ brains into real time sounds. An early phantasmal noise gem, with a limited edition of 100. Out soon.”

Siinai: ‘Anthem Part 1 & 2’ (2011)
Footage from The Holy Mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky.
Artist: Siinai
Title: Olympic Games (CD)
Label: Splendour (Norway)
Cat.no: spl006
Release date: 25 July 2011
Press release:
“Siinai was formed in the minds of four friends who all share a long background in the Finnish music scene working with bands of international status like Joensuu1685, Zebra and Snake & Äänijännite.”
“Siinai’s debut album Olympic Games (due out later this summer) is a powerful experience of huge krautrock hymns with giant hooks, motorik marathons, psychedelic soundscapes and melodies of grief and relief. Building repetition leads you to moments of complete bliss.”
“Only a few months old, the project is already making significant waves playing a handful of powerful live shows in Finland and recently at SPOT in Denmark. They have also announced collaboration with Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade to be recorded later this year as part of his ‘Moonface’ project. Don’t sleep on this band.”
“Siinai were brilliant: almost totally instrumental, with intense Krautish rhythms, ebbing and flowing melodies delivered with an intensity that only Finnish bands can summon.”
